Allosaurus was one of the largest predatory dinosaurs that ever lived, and it roamed the earth during the Late Jurassic period, about 155 to 145 million years ago. With its large head, sharp teeth, and powerful jaws, Allosaurus was a formidable predator that could take down prey much larger than itself.
Allosaurus could grow up to 39 feet (12 meters) in length and weigh as much as 4 tons. Its unique skeletal structure allowed it to be incredibly agile and swift, making it a highly efficient hunter. It had three-fingered hands with sharp claws that were ideal for grasping and holding onto prey.
Despite its fearsome reputation, Allosaurus was not just a mindless killer. Recent studies have suggested that it may have been a social animal that hunted in groups, working together to take down larger prey. It is also thought to have had excellent vision and hearing, making it an even more effective predator.
