How to Draw Solid Stylised Characters - Professional Comic Book Artist Shares Drawing Secrets.

Let me know in the comments if you have tried using these structural drawing techniques in your stylized characters!
One of the keys to remember when learning these techniques for measuring proportion and drawing with structure and form... is that once you get good at it, you do everything without thinking. The more we practice and study perspective and form drawing, and apply it to our work... the less we need to think about it when actually drawing.
Often aspiring artists get intimidated by the technical side of art and want to go back to drawing 'normally'. Which is totally understandable. When I started learning perspective it seemed overwhelming and overly technical (I don't want to use a ruler to draw all the time!). But once I learnt the basics it became a lot easier to just draw naturally while including more form and structure automatically.
Also remember that often we you see technical demonstrations like this... the teacher, like myself, is often trying to communicate how form and structure work. But when we actually draw, we are often much sketchier and looser. Eventually the structure and perspective happen more in your mind, and less on the page.
This stuff takes a long time to master so don't give up!
Happy Drawing!
