Picking the map :
Make sure it's something you like while not being too hard for you to play. Extra points if the map has good hitsound and storyboards (let alone as good as this one)

Skin :
Find the one with least amount of distraction while being as close to default as possible (combo colors on sliderbody). Extra points if all hitjudgements are invisible and combobreak.wav is a blank .wav file.
I'm using OHC 2017 skin with combobreak.wav turned into a blank .wav file

Settings :
OFF : show FPS counter, combo bursts, always show key overlay, ignore all beatmap skins, use skin's sound samples. show notification popups instantly during gameplay
ON : snaking sliders, background video / storyboards (if any), hit lighting
Misc : BG dim set to as low as you can (extra points if it's 0%), score meter type : none, hide in-game interface (shift+tab) and leaderboard (tab) while in-game. set music and effects volume to the same value

Additional :
Tweak the settings to your liking, but don't sacrifice on the beauty too much. just make sure your pc isn't lagging / lagspiking while playing. Extra points if you play on dim room lighting
