In this video I will show you how to factory reset your Sony PlayStation 5. It is very important to factory reset your PS5 if you are selling it or if you are giving away to someone else.
Before factory reseting your PS5 make sure to back off any important data such as screen captures or local game save data that you may have.
Factory resetting your PS5 only deletes your Sony account and your personal data from the PS5 that you are factory resetting. Doing this will not delete you Sony PlayStation account from Sony and it will not delete any cloud saved game data that you may have.
Here are the steps for factory resetting your PS5.
1 - Make sure that your PS5 is turned off.
2 - Make sure that your PS5 is connected to a TV or monitor and that you T or monitor is switched on.
3 - Press your PS5's power button and keep it held in, you will hear one beep as soon as you press in the power button and after about 10 seconds of holding in the power button you will hear a second beep.
4 - Once you hear the second beep you can let go of the power button.
5 - Yo will then see a message on your TV or monitor that will ask you to connect your PS5 controller.
6 - To connect your PS5 controller you can use either a USB C to USB C cable or a USB A to USB C cable. Use your USB cable to connect your PS5 to one of the USB ports on front of your PS5.
7 - Once you have connected your PS5 controller to the PS5, press the PS button on your PS5 controller and this will bring you to the PS5 Safe Mode menu.
8 - On the PS5 Safe Mode menu navigate to the option says Reset PS5 and select it.
*NOTE* Depending on the version of the software that is on your PS5 you may see a different order to the Safe Menu options, as these things can change over time. Your Safe Mode menu options may have different numbers than what I'm showing you in this video. Do not worry if this is the case, just select the number and option that says Reset PS5.
9 - After selecting the Reset PS5 option you will then get another message that warns you that you are about to erase all the data and users on the PS5. Just make sure to have backed up any important data, if have not already done so, you can power off your PS5 at this point, power on as normal, save and backoff any data that you nay need to and then restart back to this point.
10- Once you are happy to carry on at this point, navigate over to the YES button and select it.
11 - Once you tap on yes you will see a message that will say "Resetting to factory defaults". This will then show a percentage counter that will count up to 100%. This takes about 10 to 15 seconds and your PS5 will restart.
12 - After your PS5 has restarted it will now have been completely factory reset and it will now be ready to sell or to be given to someone else, so just power down the PS5 and it is ready to be given to the next person.
You may of course want to do a factory reset of your PS5 for other reasons. Maybe you want to create a new setup with a new Sony account for yourself. In which case, you can now continue with a setup for a new Sony PS user account.
