How to Beat Phalanx in Demon's Souls Using Only a SHIELD

My big brain plan for this run was to pick up the Purple Flame Shield, which the Barbarian class starts out already able to two hand from the start. You can find this big heavy shield in the area where the two dragons are resting. It's scary to go grab it, but you should have just enough time if you lure the red dragon over to the bridge first.
