4You have been invaded by Dark Spirit Kirk, Knight of Thorns.
I had a rough time with the last two encounters until I switched to the magic blaster Crystal Ring Shield.
Kirk can be encountered as long as you haven't defeated the boss of the area he invades in, same as all other npc invaders. Kirk invades in the Depths before the curse zone, Demon Ruins before all the Capras, and Lost Izalith before the Bed of Chaos boss fight. The other npc invasions happen in the Blighttown poison swamp, Tomb of Giants, the Painted World, and Oolacile.
This is taken from my twitch streams where I stream a variety of games, including challenge runs such as this Dark Souls SL1 Shield Only run where I don't level up and use a shield to attack. The Crystal Ring Shield is made with the boss soul of the Moonlight Butterfly and just about any +10 shield.
