How to Fix Low Resolution & Blurry Screen on Xbox One (Easy Tutorial)
If you're experiencing a low-resolution or blurry screen on your Xbox One, it can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to address the issue:
Check Your TV/Display Settings:
Ensure that your TV or display is set to the correct resolution and display mode. If it's set to a resolution lower than the Xbox One's output, it can result in a blurry or low-resolution image. On your TV, navigate to its settings and select the correct display resolution and aspect ratio (usually 1080p or 4K, and 16:9 for most modern TVs).
Check HDMI Cable and Connection:
Make sure your HDMI cable is properly connected and in good condition. Try a different HDMI cable or port on your TV to rule out any cable-related issues.
Xbox One Video Output Settings:
On your Xbox One, go to "Settings" - "Display & sound" - "Video output." Check and configure the following settings:
TV resolution: Set it to the native resolution of your TV (e.g., 1080p or 4K).
Video fidelity & overscan: Ensure "HDMI" and "Allow 4K" are enabled if your TV supports 4K.
Color depth: Choose the highest color depth that your TV supports.
Color space: If your TV supports it, select "Standard (Recommended)."
Calibrate Display:
Use the Xbox One's built-in display calibration tool to adjust the screen settings to your preference. This can help improve image quality. Go to "Settings" - "Display & sound" - "Calibrate HDTV."
Check TV Settings for Overscan:
Some TVs may have an "Overscan" option that can crop the edges of the image. Make sure this is turned off to avoid losing parts of the screen.
Check Game or App Settings:
In some cases, the blurry or low-resolution issue may be specific to certain games or apps. Check the in-game or app settings to ensure they are configured correctly. Some games offer graphics or display settings that may need adjustment.
Update Your Xbox One:
Ensure your Xbox One has the latest system updates. Outdated software can sometimes cause display issues. Go to "Settings" - "System" - "Updates" to check for available updates.
Power Cycle Your Console:
Turn off your Xbox One by holding the power button for about 10 seconds, unplug the power cord from the back of the console, and wait for a minute. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn on the console.
Check for Hardware Issues:
If none of the above solutions work, there may be a hardware issue with either your Xbox One or your TV. Try connecting your Xbox One to a different TV to see if the problem persists. If it does, you may need to contact Xbox Support for further assistance.
Factory Reset (as a Last Resort):
A factory reset should only be considered as a last resort, as it will erase all data on your console. To perform a factory reset, go to "Settings" - "System" - "Console info" - "Reset console" and choose "Reset and keep my games & apps" or "Reset and remove everything" based on your preference.
