About this video: In this video, we go over all of the various different methods to force quit apps on Windows 11. When applications become unresponsive or start to slow down your system, it's important to know how to close them properly. We will cover three different methods including using keyboard shortcuts, Task Manager, and the Command Prompt. Let's dive in!

First things first, the easiest and quickest way to force quit an app on Windows 11 is by using the Alt + F4 keyboard shortcut. Simply click on the app you want to close, and then press the "Alt" and "F4" keys simultaneously. Depending on your keyboard, you may need to hold the "FN" key while pressing the "F4" key. This will force the selected application to close immediately.

Next up, we have closing windows using the Task Manager. The Task Manager is a powerful tool that allows you to monitor and manage running applications, processes, and system resources. Here's how to force quit an app using the Task Manager.

First, open the Task Manager. There are several ways to access it, and your choice will depend on your specific situation. If your system is still responsive, you can use the following methods:
a. Press "Control" + "Alt" + "Delete" simultaneously, then select "Task Manager" from the options presented.
b. Press "Control" + "Shift" + "Escape" simultaneously to open the Task Manager directly.
c. Search for "Task Manager" in the Start Menu and open it from there.

Once the Task Manager is open, locate the unresponsive app in the "Processes" tab. You can either right-click on the app and choose "End task" or select the app and click the "End task" button at the bottom right of the window.

Lastly, let’s take a look at using Command Prompt to close an app. Now, I also want to not that this is not recommended for inexperienced users. However, it is worth knowing just in case. Follow these steps if you're comfortable closing apps with command prompt.

First, open the Command Prompt by searching for "CMD" in the Start Menu and selecting it. Then, type "tasklist" and press "Enter". This will display a list of all running tasks on your PC. Next, locate the unresponsive app in the list and note its program name (e.g., PROGRAMNAME.exe). Finally type "taskkill /f /im PROGRAMNAME.exe /t" and press "Enter". Replace "PROGRAMNAME.exe" with the actual name of the app you want to close. This command will force the app to quit.

And there you have it. That is how to force quit apps in Windows 11. We've covered multiple methods to force quit apps on Windows 11, including using keyboard shortcuts, Task Manager, and the Command Prompt.
