How to Get Both Sword Upgrades (Second Quest) - The Legend of Zelda Second Quest 100% Walkthrough
6This shows how to get both the White & Magical Swords during the Second Quest. To get either sword Link's maximum health must be at least 5 & 12 hearts respectively (how much of his health is currently filled is unimportant; only his maximum health matters). Additionally, to get the Magical Sword you'll need to have the Power Bracelet. If you need the Power Bracelet or you need more hearts then see the appropriate videos linked below.
You DO NOT need the White Sword to get the Magical Sword. If you have enough health then you can just go for the Magical Sword directly.
White Sword (0:00): The White Sword does twice the damage of the Wooden Sword. To get it Link's maximum health must be at least 5 hearts. The earliest point you can get it is after Level 1.
The White Sword is found in exactly the same place as it was in the First Quest. To get it from the starting screen go right 1 screen, up 5 screens, left 1 screen, up 1 screen, right 3 screens, & up 1 more screen. At this point you should be on a screen with a lake, a blue Lynel, & a cave. Go into this cave & you'll find an Old Man with the Sword. If you have the required amount of maximum health then simply grab the sword.
Magical Sword (1:09): The Magical Sword does twice the damage of the White Sword & it requires that Link's maximum health be at least 12. As mention earlier you'll also need the Power Bracelet for this.
There are 2 ways to get to the Magical Sword from the starting screen depending on if you do or do not have the Stepladder. If you don't have it then from the starting screen go right 2 screens. Push the left rock up or down to reveal a staircase. Go down it then choose the middle staircase. From here go down 1 screen, then up 1 screen using the other stairs, right 2 screens, up 1 screen, right 1 screen, up 1 screen, & right 2 more screens.
If you do have the Stepladder then from the starting screen go right 1, up 5, left 1, up 2, right 2.
Regardless of how you get there once you're on the screen with the rocks arranged in an arrow pointing left, move the rock at the arrows tip to reveal a staircase that leads to the Old Man that gives you the Magical Sword assuming your max health is high enough.
