Muting someone in a Discord server is as easy when they're in a voice channel. You can right click on their name and choose to server mute them. However if the person you want to globally mute isn't in a voice channel this method can't be done.

To global mute someone on Discord you can create a silence or muted role. Anyone with this role will be prevented from speaking in any of your voice channels. This method for gloablly muting Discord users is highly effective as you can mute anyone connected to your server in seconds.

You can also unmute someone by removing the role. This will restore all of their normal permissions.
