Microsoft Edge has received a long awaited change - now you can enable Share button in the toolbar. The change has landed in the latest Canary build of the browser, and soon will reach over app branches, including Dev, Beta, and Stable.
Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system ships with two web browsers; the new Microsoft Edge web browser which is the default browser on Windows 10, and Internet Explorer 11.
Microsoft has adopted the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility. This new Microsoft Edge runs on the same Chromium web engine as the Google Chrome browser, offering you best in class web compatibility and performance.
While Microsoft wants users of Windows 10 to use Microsoft Edge, as it supports newer web technologies and is the browser that Microsoft puts the development focus on, it had to add Internet Explorer to Windows 10 for backwards compatibility purposes.
Microsoft Edge does not support many of the technologies that Internet Explorer supports. Organizations and users that require support for these technologies need to use Internet Explorer on Windows 10 (either directly or in a VM environment).
If you open Internet Explorer on Windows 10 you will notice that Microsoft placed a Microsoft Edge button on the browser's main toolbar. The button takes away space that is used to display open tabs in Microsoft Edge, and you may want to remove it if you don't use it.
The latest version of the Edge browser, in addition to Collections and Feedback button, can show a ‘Share’ button. With this dedicated button in the Microsoft Edge browser, you can share a web page URL link via Microsoft Store app, or copy link to your clipboard.
This is a long awaited change in the browser. As you may remember, the Chromium-based Edge browser has started with a few features not included into the initial release. One of the is ARM devices support, which made its appearance in the Stable channel with Edge v80. The Share button, along with the Extension Syncing option are two of the most requested features by Edge users.
