How To Import/Transfer Gamecube Saves in Dolphin
A quick explanation of how to transfer/import Gamecube save files into the Dolphin Emulator memory card.
Very quick, Very simple, no messing about.
Remember guys if you are going to emulate and stuff - ONLY do it with games you actually own. Keep emulation going but do it the right way.
FIXES AND SOLUTIONS -----
In-case anyone runs into any problems here are the most common issues and how to fix them or work around them if you come across them.
Q:- DEVELOPMENT BUILD USERS - No MemCardUSA file.
A: I did do a video on this but with Nintendo being how they are lately I'm instead just going to tell you what to do.
1: Download latest Dev Build
2: Go to Tools, Memory card Manager - Error message will pop up.
3: Click on CREATE, new menu appears, click CREATE again
4: Go into USA folder and create a new file called MemCardUSA.
5: Go to settings and look for GC card slot A and then navigate it to the card you just made in the USA folder.
6: With this done download whatever saves you want - select IMPORT and then double click on the save. Wait 3 seconds and it should appear. Boot up your game and the save will load
Q:- My memorycard.USA file says .PAL or .JAP instead. Is this a problem?
A: No this isnt an issue and shouldnt really matter at all if it says .PAL/JAP or USA as the pretend card is being read via your PC.
Q: I did everything the guide said but i dont appear to have a memorycard file.
A: This happens sometimes and its easy to fix. Long story short you havent created a memory card and Dolphin hasnt created one for you either (which its meant to do) so lets fix that,
First load up ANY Gamecube game, make a save IN-GAME and then exit and then also exit out of Dolphin. If you check back in the folder you should now have a memorycard.USA file.
Q: My memory card wont read or is corrupted....what do i do?
A: This is common if you have had to create the file yourself. Simply format the memory card and it should now allow you to mess with it how you see fit.
Q: I go to import a save and it wont do it.....have i done something wrong?
A: Yes - this can happen if you DONT have the actual memory card itself selected in BROWSE. If you pause the video at 1:23 and look in the BROWER section it has the memory card selected (C:/User etc etc) you need to have YOUR card selected as well before you start doing anything or else it wont see anything because there is no card currently selected. IF your card isnt formatted it also wont import any files because it will see the card as corrupted - so format it first if needed.
Q: My save file isnt working - any solutions?
A: It shouldnt really matter if your save file is a GCI or GCS save file as the memory card importer should be able to read both files. The most common issue is that you wont have the correct save type for the region of your game. Remember if you have a PAL version of a game then your going to need a PAL version of the save file
