How to Install Dolby Atmos on Windows 10/11 PC
If you're looking to enhance your audio experience on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC, installing Dolby Atmos can significantly improve the depth and clarity of your sound, especially when using headphones or a compatible home theater system. This video walks you through the simple process of downloading and enabling Dolby Atmos through the official Dolby Access app, available via the Microsoft Store.
Dolby Atmos creates a spatial sound environment that goes beyond traditional surround sound. It adds height to the audio space, making movies, music, and games more immersive by simulating 3D sound from all directions. While some systems come with Dolby Atmos pre-installed, most users will need to install it manually and activate it through a free trial or one-time purchase.
To get started, open the Microsoft Store on your PC. In the search bar at the top, type Dolby Access and select the app from the results. Click the Get button to download and install it on your system. Once installed, open the app and click Next on the welcome screen, followed by Get Started on the next prompt.
You'll then be presented with an option to either start a free trial or purchase the Dolby Atmos license. Most users can try the feature for free with headphones before deciding to buy. After choosing your preferred option, follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup. The app will guide you in configuring your audio device—usually prompting you to set Dolby Atmos for Headphones as your default spatial sound format.
To confirm it's enabled, right-click the sound icon in your system tray, go to Sound settings, scroll to Spatial sound, and choose Dolby Atmos for Headphones from the dropdown.
