Have you ever felt left out of a FaceTime call because you're on an Android device? Well, those days are over! Apple now makes it possible for Android users to join in on FaceTime calls with iPhone and iPad devices, bridging the gap between iOS and Android. In this video I'll show you how to join a FaceTime call right from your Android device. This new feature is perfect for staying connected with friends and family who use Apple devices.
Now let's walk through the steps to join a FaceTime call from your Android device.
Step 1. Open the FaceTime app on an iPhone or iPad device. You'll land on the FaceTime home screen.
Step 2. Tap "Create Link" at the top of this screen. A menu will pop up associated with creating a FaceTime link.
Step 3. Tap "Add Name" to give this link a name. After that, tap "Copy" to copy your FaceTime link.
Step 4. Share the FaceTime link you copied through a text message, email, or any other method with the Android user you want to join a FaceTime call. In this example I'll email the FaceTime link to myself.
Step 5. Tap the FaceTime link that was shared with you on an Android device. A FaceTime site will open in your web browser prompting you enter a name to join the FaceTime conversation.
Step 6. Enter the name you want to use in the FaceTime conversation, and then tap "Continue." Tap "Allow" if you get a prompt asking if FaceTime can use your camera and microphone. Additionally, you may need to click through some prompts asking if Chrome can take pictures and record video, and also record audio. Eventually you'll land on a screen that will show you what is captured through your front-facing camera, and you'll see an option to join the FaceTime call.
Step 7. Tap "Join." You'll see a message that you're waiting to be let in.
Step 8. The iPhone or iPad user who sent you the link to join this FaceTime call will need to open the FaceTime app, find the FaceTime link they created in their home menu, and then tap to open that FaceTime link.
Step 9. The iPhone or iPad user should tap "Join" to join the FaceTime call. They'll see a message at the top of the screen letting them know that there is one person waiting to join the call. They should tap that message. They'll see an overview of the call and a summary of who is waiting.
Step 10. The iPhone or iPad user should tap the green check mark associated with the Android user who is waiting to join the room. Now when they return to the FaceTime call, the Android user will be on the call as well.
