If you're trying to lock your Android screen while watching YouTube videos—whether to prevent accidental touches or to hand the phone to a child—this video shows you how to do it using the built-in "Screen Pinning" (also called App Pinning) feature. While YouTube doesn’t offer a native screen lock, this Android setting allows you to keep one app on-screen and disable interactions with other parts of the device until you manually unlock it.

To begin, go to your phone's main Settings app. Scroll down to find "Security & privacy" or simply "Security" depending on your Android version. Tap on it, then look for an option called "More security settings" or "Advanced settings." Here, locate and select "Screen pinning" or "App pinning." Toggle it on, and also enable the option that says "Ask for PIN before unpinning" to ensure your screen stays locked until you deliberately unlock it.

Once that’s set up, open the YouTube app and play any video. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or tap the overview/multitasking button) to bring up recent apps. Tap the app icon at the top of the YouTube preview window and look for "Pin" or "Screen Pin." Tap on it to lock the app in place. Now, your phone will only allow YouTube to remain on-screen—pressing any other button won’t exit or interrupt the video.

To exit screen pinning, press and hold both the "Back" and "Overview" buttons simultaneously (or follow your device’s method), then enter your PIN to unlock. This technique is useful for uninterrupted viewing or for keeping younger users from navigating away from the video.
