About this video: Making a streaming overlay for YouTube and Twitch can be hard. There are so many different options, and what size should you make a Twitch overlay anyway? Well, in this video, I show you exactly how to create your very own custom streaming overlay, and how you can add that streaming overlay to OBS. Thus, let's go ahead and jump right on into!

First and foremost, you will need a program to create your streaming overlay with. I will be using Photoshop for this tutorial, but if you don't have Photoshop, GIMP is a free alternative that can be used to create your Twitch overlay. No matter what photo editor you use, you will want to make the image you create 1920x1080. This is 1080P, and it is the most common resolution to stream at.

After you have your overlay size and your starting document created, you will need to start customizing it. This includes adding in a border around a webcam, adding in social icons, and using your creativity. There are unlimited opportunities for what you can do with a Twitch Streaming Overlay, so don't be afraid to give something a try. A streaming overlay is apart of your overall #Twitch streaming experience, so put some time and effort into it.

Once you have your overlay finished, you will need to save it as a PNG file. If you don't save your overlay as a PNG file, it will not work. Also, make sure that your streaming overlay doesn't have a background. Now, we can move into OBS. In OBS, you can add a new source, select 'image', name that image whatever you want, and then, select the overlay. If you are streaming at 1080P, the overlay will be perfectly scaled. Now, just add your webcam, and you are done!
