Hello, I'll show you, how to mod Satisfactory Update 5. All you need is to have installed Steam, Satisfactory Mod Manager (https://github.com/satisfactorymodding/SatisfactoryModManager/releases) and game itself. Game build must be compatible with Satisfactory Mod Loader version, or mods won't work and your game crash.
If you didn't install Satisfactory through Steam, copy one of the manifest file (eg. "appmanifest_480.acf"). Rename this file to "appmanifest_526870.acf" and open it. Change key "appid" number to "526870" (It's game ID of Satisfactory), key "name" to "Satisfactory" and key "installdir" to name of the folder, you've installed game to ("SatisfactoryExperimental" in my case).
Then open file "libraryfolders.vdf" and add new line in key "apps":
"526870" "123456789"
The first number is mandatory "526870", the next number can be whatever you want. Then open SMM and your game will be successfully found.

Important notes:
Don't run game through SMM, run it manually.
Exit Steam if running to make sure your files won't be regenerated.
The files you edit will be automatically regenerated when you run Steam again. Backup of files would be good.
Make sure your game build is compatible with SML (https://ficsit.app/sml-versions), I showed it in video.
If you can't load mods, disable all mods except SML itself. If your game crash with SML mod, your game is incompatible with SML.
