How to perform the Item Stacking glitch in Castle of the Winds
3Yeah, I'm dumb and keep forgetting how this works. Got it wrong in both of my tutorials.
Written Version:
1. Equip an item with Stats you want on the character's body slot.
2. Left click to highlight the item (dotted red line on that body slot should appear), Right click to show the item's Stats.
3. While continuing to hold right click, press enter to pick up the item (If successful, the items's stats box should glitch and still be on screen).
4. Move the cursor to the Free Hand slot and left click. The item should mysteriously disappear (OoOoOooh Spooky).
You will now keep all the bonuses of the item, with only a very small number of exceptions. And you can equip other items there now, without losing the bonuses. This can be done as many times as the character weight limits permit!
Please note that the item's weight is retained (it still counts as equipped) so you could very easily overload yourself if you attempt to do this with multiple pieces of body armor. Overloading yourself does detrimental things to your movement speed and other functions of dexterity! There's no way to undo the extra weight without save file hacking, so you may not want to do this casually.
Best done with light weapons, rings, boots, and gauntlets.
This strat isn't really necessary from a speedrunning perspective, and in most situations eats more time than it's worth. It's more what I would call a marathon strat, though it might be possible to use it with incredible RNG and save minutes off current times.
