How To Permanently Disable Cortana In Windows 10 Home

Cortana Location in SystemApps:
‪C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy

[IMPORTANT] Disabling Cortana will also disable Windows Search. You can easily reactivate Cortana and Windows Search by following the steps towards the end of the video.

Steps To Disable Cortana
1. Open up Task Manger by typing Ctrl+Shift+Esc all at the same time.
2. Expand Cortana in Task Manger by left clicking on the arrow next to Cortana's name in Background Processes.
3. Right click on the 2nd Cortana background process underneath the first Cortana process.
4. Select "open file location"
5. You should now be in C:\Windows\SystemApps
6. Once in System apps Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy should already be highlighted for you.
7. Right click on the Cortana SystemApps folder and rename it to Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy_off
8. Cortana should now be disabled.
- You have now successfully permanently disabled Cortana for Windows 10 Home. The disabled Cortana icon on the task bar can be easily hidden by right clicking on the task bar and and selecting "show cortana button".

To Reactivate Cortana and Windows Search:
1. Go back to C:\Windows\SystemApps
2. Rename Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy_off back to Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy
- Cortana and Windows search will immediately be reactivated and ready for you to use.
