Today, we are going to learn how to encrypt a folder using an open source tool, a very simple tool, named 7zip. 7zip is an open source software. It is a compression tool that has a very high compression ratio with varied file formats supported. In this case, we are going to use its password encryption tool to place a password on a folder we would want to keep safe.

Here are the steps to install 7zip
1. Open your browser and go to: www.7zip.org
2. Download the exe file suited for your computer.
3. Once downloaded, install to your conputer.

Here are the steps to encrypt your folder:
1. Right click on a folder and choose 7zip
2. Then choose "Add to archive..."
3. After a window or dialog box opens, look for the section which says, Encryption
4. Enter the password of the archive
5. Click OK
6. Once compression is done, delete the original folder. (Optional: delete it from the Recycle Bin as well)
