While there's no guaranteed way to recover an unsaved Word document, there are several steps you can take to possibly salvage at least part of the file you so desperately need.
We’ve all been there: a frantic search for a document you know you saved but just can’t find. It’s been deleted, but you’re sure that you didn’t do it -- at least on purpose. But fear not, Microsoft Word has a couple of excellent data recovery options that can often recover documents, even after they’ve been deleted.
When you run a Microsoft Office program such as Word after forgetting to save a document, the program automatically lists autosaved files in the Recovery pane. Once you close this pane, the list vanishes, but the files remain on your computer, so you can continue to restore your work. Beyond recovering unsaved documents, this process also helps you recover content that you've recently removed from an open document or content that you've accidentally overwritten with new additions.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems. Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).
