How to Restore the Default Settings on PS5 (Fix Issues)
When facing issues with your PS5, restoring the default settings can be a helpful troubleshooting step. It's important to understand the difference between restoring default settings and a full factory reset.
Restore Default Settings vs. Factory Reset
Restoring Default Settings: This option resets system settings like display, audio, and network configurations to their original factory values. It does not delete your games, saved data, or user profiles. This is a great first step if you are experiencing issues with a specific setting, such as a problem with your Wi-Fi connection, audio output, or a display issue.
Factory Reset (Reset PS5): This option completely wipes all data from the console, including all user accounts, games, saved data, screenshots, and videos. It returns the console to the state it was in when it first came out of the box. You should only use this option as a last resort or if you plan on selling or giving away your PS5.
Method 1: Restoring Default Settings from the PS5 Menu
This is the simplest method and is recommended for most troubleshooting.
From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon in the top-right corner).
Select System.
Choose System Software.
Select Reset Options.
Choose Restore Default Settings.
The PS5 will then guide you through the process of restoring the settings. Your console will restart, and you may need to sign in again with your email and password.
