How to Restring an Ibanez/Floyd Rose Floating Tremolo Bridge Guitar
Here’s how to restring a guitar with a double locking floating tremolo bridge. The main steps for this procedure involve blocking the floating bridge in some way hold it in place at or near level, removing the strings, conditioning the fretboard, and installing the new strings.
When it comes to the last step, there are several ways to handle the ball end of the string. Some cut off the ball end and feed that end of the string into the bridge. Others cut off the other end of the string (for the wound strings) and feed that into the bridge, with the ball end side hanging out of the headstock end. My cat is a huge fan of this method.
