How to Set Up 1.1.1.1 DNS Server for Windows - Fastest DNS (Wifi & Cable)
1,550This is how to set up the 1.1.1.1 DNS server, the fastest DNS server. If you want to switch to Cloudflare DNS 1.1.1.1, / 1111 DNS this gets you covered. This tutorial shows your how to change to the new Cloudflare DNS that has proved to be the fastest one out there as well as the most secure in terms of privacy. Works for all windows versions, win7, win8, win10, winXP and Vista.

Click on the Start menu, then click on Control Panel.
Click on Network and Internet.
Click on Change Adapter Settings.
Right click on the network card you are connected to, then click Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and Version 6.
Click Properties.
Write down any existing DNS server entries for future reference.
Click Use The Following DNS Server Addresses.
Replace those addresses with the 1.1.1.1 DNS addresses for IPv4:
►One: Preferred DNS server: 1.1.1.1
►Two: Alternate DNS server: 1.0.0.1
For IPv6:
►One: Preferred DNS server: 2606:4700:4700::1111
►Two: Alternate DNS server: 2606:4700:4700::1001
Click OK, then Close.
Restart your browser.
You’re all set! Your device now has faster, more private DNS servers

The alternative DNS addresses are provided for free by "OpenDNS" owned by Cisco. They are supposed to make browsing safer and faster, they incorporate different security measures that your default DNS might not have access to; you can read more about them here: https://www.opendns.com/about/

►One: Preferred DNS server: 208.67.222.222
►Two: Alternate DNS server: 208.67.220.220
iPv6:
►One: Preferred DNS server: 2620:0:ccc::2
►Two: Alternate DNS server: 2620:0:ccd::2
Mac OSX Leopard/Snow Leopard
1. Go to your System Preferences
2. Click on your Network
3. Select Built In Ethernet and click Advanced
4. Select the DNS tab and add the numbers below to the list of DNS servers. Then, click OK
