How to Set your Messages to PRIVATE or Friends Only on PS5 Privacy Settings (Best Method)
Keeping your PS5 messages private or limited to your friends is a great way to control who you interact with on the PlayStation Network. Sony provides several privacy options to help you manage this, and the process is straightforward.
The Best Method: Using Privacy Settings
This is the most direct and effective way to manage your message privacy.
From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon in the top-right corner).
Scroll down and select Users and Accounts.
On the left-hand menu, select Privacy.
Choose View and Customize Your Privacy Settings.
Scroll down to the "Communication and Multiplayer" section.
Select the option for "Who can interact with you through parties, games, and messages."
You will see three options:
Anyone: The default setting. Anyone on the PlayStation Network can send you a message or party invite.
Friends Only: This is the most popular choice for privacy. Only players on your friends list can send you messages and party invitations.
No One: This will prevent all players, including your friends, from sending you messages or party invites.
Choose "Friends Only" to stop receiving messages from strangers.
