Currently my Network Tab is not accessible to show FPS counter in the menu for Battlefield 2042. This is a workaround for the EA Play App and how to enable it in game. This only works each time you launch the game and must manually type it in.

Press the tilde key "~" below the ESC button
Type in "perfoverlay.drawfps 1" without any quotation marks
Then press "~" to close the text window

You should be seeing the FPS counter on the upper right hand of your screen. There might be other work arounds with Steam and Origin but I've been using the EA App and there isn't currently a setting in the APP itself to display FPS counter in all games.
