Steps to Show Steam FPS: 0:40
Video Transcript:
Understanding what FPS your Steam game is running at can help you make decisions around tuning the game's settings to get the best performance possible. Knowing your Steam game frame rate will also help you understand the output capabilities of your computer's graphics card, which will help you if you're looking at new monitors. For example, if your graphics card is only pushing 60 FPS it probably doesn't make sense to get a 120 hertz monitor. In this video I'll show you how to show your Steam FPS on your Steam games.
Now let's walk through the steps to show your Steam FPS on your Steam games.
Step 1. Launch the Steam client on your computer. Your Steam home screen appears.
Step 2. Click "Steam" in the row of menu options along the top of the screen to open a drop-down menu, and then click "Settings" in the drop-down menu. The Settings window appears.
Step 3. Select In-Game on the left side of the Settings window, and then click to open the drop-down menu beneath In-game FPS Counter. Choose where you want the Steam frame rate counter to be displayed. If you want the frame rate counter to appear with high contrast color, click to place a check mark to the left of that option. Because the default Steam FPS counter is white, I'd recommend using a high contrast color to make sure you can see it. Click "OK" when you're done. You'll return to your Steam home screen.
Now, whenever you launch a Steam game going forward, you'll see the FPS in the location you specified.
