Steam Guard lets you use two-factor authentication to add another layer of protection to your Steam account. However, if you feel like having to provide the second layer of user authentication, through either email or the Steam app, every time is more of a headache than its worth, you can easily turn off the Steam Guard feature.

Now let's walk through the steps to disable Steam Guard two-factor authentication.

Step 1. Launch the Steam application on your computer. You'll land on your Steam home screen.

Step 2. Click "Steam" in the menu along the top of the screen to open a drop-down menu, and then click "Settings" in the drop-down menu. The Settings screen appears.

Step 3. Select "Account" in the menu on the left edge of the screen, and then click "Manage Steam Guard Account Security" on the right side of the screen. The Manage Steam Guard screen is displayed.

Step 4. Click to select the radio button next to "Turn Steam Guard Off." The Turn Steam Guard Off screen appears. Click "Disable Steam Guard" on this screen. A message appears informing you that turning off Steam Guard requires confirmation, and that an email has been sent to the email account associated with your Steam account for you to confirm your decision to disable Steam Guard.

Step 5. Launch the email account associated with your Steam account, and then find the email from Steam with a subject line that reads Disable Steam Guard Confirmation. Click the "Disable Steam Guard" link in the email. A Steam Guard Disabled message is displayed. Steam Guard is now disabled.
