Steps:

- Open up launchpad from the dock, then click the ‘other’ folder.

- Click ‘screenshot’.

- You can also use the spotlight search in the top right corner of your mac to search for ‘screenshot’.

- If you want to use the screen recorder app frequently, then you can drag it into the dock to have easier access to it.

- With the screenshot app open, click ‘capture entire screen’ and then click on the screen to take a screenshot.

- Your screenshot will save to the desktop, you can right-click on it, or press the ‘control’ key while you click on it to bring up this menu and rename it.

- If you would like to take a screenshot of just a specific window, then with the window that you would like to capture open, open the screenshot app and click ‘capture selected window’ then click on the window that you would like to capture.

- You can also just capture a selected portion of the screen, click ‘capture selected portion’ then resize and drag the box to your desired size and location, then click ‘capture’.
