Turning off Safe Mode on a Mac without using the power button is entirely possible and doesn't require any complex steps. Safe Mode is typically activated by holding the Shift key during startup, not the power button, and it's often used for troubleshooting issues with your macOS. However, exiting Safe Mode is much simpler than entering it—you just need to perform a standard restart.

To exit Safe Mode, click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen. From the dropdown menu, select "Restart." Your Mac will begin the reboot process. When it powers back on, do not hold any keys—just allow it to boot normally. This time, it will load the full macOS environment, not Safe Mode. You’ll know you’re out of Safe Mode if the red "Safe Boot" label no longer appears in the menu bar or login window.

This method works on all macOS devices including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac. If your Mac continues to start in Safe Mode even after a restart, it may be due to a stuck key or a startup setting issue. In such cases, try shutting down your Mac completely and turning it on again without pressing any keys. If that still doesn’t resolve the issue, resetting your NVRAM or SMC may help, depending on your Mac model.

For most users, though, a simple restart via the Apple menu is all that's needed to exit Safe Mode and return to normal operation.
