How to Get Netflix on MacBook Air
If you're using a MacBook Air—or any Mac running macOS—you may have noticed that there's no standalone Netflix app available in the Mac App Store. While Netflix did previously offer app-based access on certain platforms, macOS currently does not support a dedicated Netflix application. This means that the only official and supported method to stream Netflix on a Mac is by using a web browser like Safari, Google Chrome, or Firefox.
To watch Netflix, simply open your browser and go to [https://www.netflix.com/](https://www.netflix.com/). From there, log into your account and start streaming directly. The web-based interface provides access to the full catalog of shows and movies, including features like subtitle support, resolution controls, and playback options. While this method doesn't allow for offline downloads like on the mobile app, it's fully functional for streaming on demand.
For easier access, you can create a desktop shortcut for Netflix. In Chrome, for example, click the three-dot menu at the top right, go to "More Tools," then select "Create Shortcut." You can choose to open it in a separate window, giving it an app-like experience directly from your Dock or desktop. This won’t replicate the full functionality of a native app, but it does streamline access and improve convenience.
If you need to download content for offline viewing, you’ll have to use a mobile device with the Netflix app installed, as that feature is not currently available through browsers on macOS.
