Have you ever wanted to send messages that vanish into thin air after they've been read? Whether it's for privacy or just to keep your chats clutter-free, WhatsApp's disappearing messages feature is here to the rescue! In this video I'll show you how to turn on disappearing messages on WhatsApp, adding an extra layer of security and neatness to your conversations. However, there are some things you'll want to keep in mind when you turn on disappearing messages on WhatsApp. All messages sent prior to turning on disappearing messages will always be displayed in the chat. If anyone chooses to keep a message in this WhatsApp chat, that message will be kept for everyone and will not disappear. If someone forwards a message that's set to disappear in this chat, it will disappear in your chat but it won't disappear in the chat it gets forwarded to.
Now let's walk through the steps to turn on disappearing messages on WhatsApp.
Step 1. Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android device. You'll land on your WhatsApp home screen.
Step 2. Tap "Chats" in the menu along the bottom of the screen. The Chats home screen is displayed.
Step 3. Find the WhatsApp chat you want to turn on disappearing messages for, and then tap to open it.
Step 4. Tap the group name at the top of this chat. The next screen displays options for that specific chat.
Step 5. Scroll down this menu, and then tap "Disappearing Messages." If you live in a country where the disappearing messages feature isn't supported, you won't see this option. The Disappearing Messages menu is shown.
Step 6. Tap to place a check mark next to the duration you want messages to be visible for in this chat before they will disappear. Going forward, new messages in this chat will disappear after your selected duration. All messages sent prior to this will always be displayed in the chat. If anyone chooses to keep a message in this WhatsApp chat, that message will be kept for everyone and will not disappear. If someone forwards a message that's set to disappear in this chat, it will disappear in your chat but it won't disappear in the chat it gets forwarded to.
