In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to uninstall and remove the Microsoft News Widget in Windows 11. If you find the News Widget distracting or unnecessary, this guide will help you disable or remove it for good.
Disabling the News and Interests widget in Windows 11 is easier than other tweaks like removing Cortana or Microsoft Edge.
The News and Interests widget in Windows 11 appears when you hover over the weather icon on the taskbar. It shows information like weather, news, finance, and traffic. You can manage the topics by clicking "Manage Interests."
While Windows 11 includes helpful apps, some users may prefer to remove the Microsoft News App. This guide explains how to disable the widget, with an easy way to re-enable it later.
Not everyone has this widget yet, as it’s being rolled out gradually. If you don’t have it yet but know you won’t need it, bookmark this page for when it becomes available.
To disable the widget, hover over it, right-click, and choose "News and Interests" "Turn off." The widget will disappear from your taskbar. If you want to keep it but change its appearance, select "Icon only" to remove the text, or adjust the taskbar update frequency.
