#AdWordstips Create a "Mobile app installs" campaign on the Google Display Network to show ads for your app within other apps. Learn more about driving mobile app downloads https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/6032059#display
In this video, you'll learn how to: - Create ads with an install button to download your app;
- Show your ads within other apps on the Display Network;
- And make sure your ads appear to the people who are likely to download your app
App installs campaigns are available on both the Search and Display Networks. Today, we'll create a Display Network campaign, so we can show ads within other mobile apps.
Choose the campaign sub-type "Mobile app installs", and enter the name of your app.
Next, select the app you'd like to promote. Start by choosing the app store where people can download your app.
Then, enter the name or app ID of the app into the search bar, and select the app from the options below
Your ads will automatically appear on all devices where your app can be downloaded. If your app has both smartphone and tablet versions, we'll show your ads on both device types.
You can choose to only show ads on smartphones by checking the box next to "Exclude tablets" when you create your ads.
Select “Focus on Installs” so AdWords can automatically adjust your bids. That way, you'll show your ads to people most likely to install your app.
For Android apps, we'll automatically count installs of your app as conversions -- you'll see them in the conversions column of your reporting table.
Set your location and language targeting based on where you'd like your ads to show.
Next, name your Ad group, and select your bidding strategy.
Since we picked “Focus on Installs” bidding, we’ll enter our target Cost Per Acquisition. For iOS apps, you'll need to set up conversion tracking to use Target CPA.
This value should match the app’s cost-per-install (CPI) value. so your bids will automatically be adjusted to help drive the most downloads at that price.
In our example, we'll set this as $5, we'll aim to spend about $5 per person who downloads our app
Next, choose how to target your ads. The default targeting is "Show ads to all potential app users". This lets AdWords find your customers for you using the Target CPA bid you set. Your ads will be eligible to show on every app or device -- but only to people who are likely to install your app.
Keep in mind that this campaign type doesn't use keyword targeting.
You can also target ads based on peoples' interests such as people with "New mobile devices". Their owners are most likely interested in downloading a new app or two!
You can even show ads to people based on categories of apps they've downloaded before, like similar or complimentary apps.
On top of those categories, you can choose to only show your ads to people who buy apps, or make in-app purchases.
Time to create your ads! Since you've already entered your app, we can do most of the ad creation for you. You can use a text-style ad, an ad with a custom image, or an ad using a video you uploaded.
For standard text-style ads, just type in your headline and description lines for your ad -- we'll automatically add your app icon and a download button.
Nice work! You've created your app installs campaign.
If you've already set up conversion tracking, or are advertising an Android app, you'll be able to count app installs from your ads as conversions. For iOS apps, you'll need to set up conversion tracking manually.
