Although you can access your map at any point you may notice that you cannot simply just warp to locations you have discovered whenever you want too. You can only use Dead Island 2 fast travel by physically interacting with one of the Fast Travel Maps. You need to progress through the main story until you complete The Red Mist quest which is around when you hit the half-way point of the game, so for the first half I am afraid you are going to have to rely on your legs and stamina. However, as soon as you reach Venice Beach, fast travel will be unlocked when you find a big red map of Los Angeles on the table. You need to find the individual Fast Travel Maps in each area to unlock them. Here are all the areas that you can fast travel too.
