3:20 More StarCraft Art by AI
What you are seeing here is StarCraft inspired art generated entirely by an artificial intelligence called Midjourney AI. You will see everything from favorite characters reimagined like Jim Raynor, Sarah Kerrigan, Zeratul, Overmind, Nova, Ouros, Queen of Blades to 3D and 2D battlefields as well as Terrans, Protoss and Zerg units, planets, starships, broods and so on. Behind this AI is an independent research lab whose goal is, as they put it: ”To explore new mediums of thought and expand the imaginative powers of the human species.” Quite lofty, I know.
But this art is stunning… most of the time. What we have here is an interactive AI. It uses machine learning to create images based on text. It is an autonomous program that takes concepts and makes them into real artwork.
It works by first reading your input, a few simple words you write in its discord. Link below in the description. You simply describe what you want to see. The Midjourney AI goes out and finds images that are like what you have described and then combines them in a unique and artistic way. These images aren’t simple composites. This AI is a true image creator as everything it puts out is a totally new creation.
To start making your own art using this amazing tool first go to the discord link in the description, if you already have a Discord account, use that to sign in, if you don’t, you need to create a new account.
In its discord you'll see options on the left side of the screen. You want to go to any of the Newcomer Rooms. There you can see what others have created before you and even download those pictures. You can also look up what kinds of word prompts they used to generate those pictures.
There is also a Getting Started section you can read first as well as a frequently asked questions section.
In one of the Newcomer Rooms, type the /imagine Command into the chat box, press spacebar, then type your word prompts. These can be basically anything you want. Then just wait for the Midjourney Bot to process your request.
When it generates your artwork, it will provide four different images. You can choose which one you want to upscale by clicking the relevant button.
The other button lets you select one image and generate variations on that specific picture. And that is all there is to it.
Do note that as this is a beta program, you will be able to create only 25 images for free, asking for variations also counts into that 25 limit. If you want to pay for more, there is a subscription system where for $10 a month you can generate 200 images. The premium price of $30 a month lets you create as many as you wish.
