This is the first in a series of devlogs detailing the development of our Twinstick shooter: Hazel & The Haunted Hues Hotel.

We plan to make HHHH an arcade style topdown shooter, with mechanics based around colour, made in GameMaker Studio 2.

We're first time devs, with me (Jimmy) doing the coding & music and my partner Carla doing the art.

I've also been streaming the whole process over on twitch but these videos are there if you'd prefer a summary or want to catch up.

This episode deals with how I prepared to make this game and my experience beforehand, how we came up with the idea, how we set up GameMaker, setting up a test room & getting our character moving & shooting!

You can catch the game being made every Tuesday & Friday (20:00 BST until 23:00) @ www.twitch.tv/jimmymcginger

I also update regularly at:
