How well does VMWare Workstation 17 Pro run Unreal Tournament 2003 on Windows 10 on top of Win 11?
How does VMware Workstation 17.0.2 Pro run Unreal Tournament 2003 (released in 2002) on a Windows 10 virtual machine hosted on Windows 11?
I'm currently testing the new graphic capabilities of VMware Workstation Pro Version 17.0.2 to assess how well it can run old-school 3D FPS games like UT2003.
My verdict: Pretty damn fast! I've turned all settings up to the maximum except for the resolution.
You might be wondering, why use VMware to play games?
1. Most old games are just that - old. You may not want to clutter your modern-day OS like Windows 11 with .dll files and components dating back to 2000-2005.
2. VMware containers can be easily duplicated, so you won't have to worry about catastrophic crashes.
3. With VMware containers, you can have hundreds of old-school/classic games installed without concerns about applications interfering with your primary desktop OS, memory issues, leaks, or poorly behaving routines and function calls.
4. It offers virus isolation.
5. Easement of backup and portability.
6. VMware containers can be placed in multiple locations and on different storage media.
