How Would You Feel About Simultaneous Difficulty Raid Releases? A Question from Game Director Ion Hazzikostas
LIVE POSTED 3 DAYS AGO BY ARCHIMTIROS
During his interview with Maximum of Team Liquid, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas posed his own question to the community - how would you feel about simultaneously releasing Normal, Heroic, and Mythic raid difficulties at the same time?
Making very clear that this was a hypothetical exercise and that there are no such plans to announce such a feature anytime soon, the game director is looking for community feedback on potentially changing the traditional week-long separation between Normal/Heroic and Mythic difficulty raids becoming available to instead releasing all three difficulties at the same time.
For his part, Max was surprised by the impromptu question, though his initial impression was that it would likely be better for the high end raid community, as it would reduce the amount of downtime hardcore progression guilds have at the start of a new tier - Blizzard has continually tried to make changes to curtail the splits, alts, funnels, BoE hunting, and other various strategies those guilds use to gain a competitive advantage, which is largely due to the fact that they aren't spending that week working on Mythic raid content. If Mythic were released immediately, they wouldn't be able to do those things without taking time away from progression, so his initial impressions were that it would probably do a lot of good for the game.
That said, it's a question for the entire community to give feedback on rather than just one person, and some players are in favor of spending the extra week acclimating to the raid on a lower difficulty. Still this is just a hypothetical question, and Ion was adamant that it wasn't a hidden announcement - admitting that the team was also still figuring out how Dragonflight's initial raid rollout would work with the upcoming holiday season.
