HP Stream 7 Gaming - Morrowind
HP Stream 7 Gaming - Morrowind The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind is the first 3D Elder Scrolls game and after a few requests, I'm curious enough to test it on the HP Stream 7.
Released in 2002, TES3 Morrowind isn't the prettiest game around, but it is a huge one filled with tons of different ways to play.
Unfortunately it doesn't have a lot of graphical options, and running on an Intel HD GPU might not even be properly supported by this old game, but the biggest hit this game takes is that it doesn't make use of multi-core CPU processing. The Stream 7's Z3735G processor has a clock speed of 1.33Ghz, and that doesn't exactly break the speed barrier on a single core. I used to play this on my single core Pentium 4 at 2.4Ghz back in 2004 and back then it was my graphics card which was the slowdown (a 64Mb Geforce4).
Also a bit of a burn is that widescreen didn't even exist in 2002 so there is absolutely no option for a 16:9 HD resolution setting.
Yes there are mods (TONS of mods) for Morrowind to get nice graphics, lighting and models and animation and sound... the list goes on, but at the end of the day, the core game doesn't even run as well as TES4 Oblivion.
But it is playable, and it's moddable (I've used the Better Faces mod and the Better Bodies mod here so people didn't seem so freakishly homely - lol).
Cheers!
