If you need to do a hard reset on your htc one m8 the first thing you want to do is make sure its powered off. Once it powers down what you want to do is hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously. After you do that an option screen will pop up and you want to use the volume down key to scroll down to the reset option then click the power button to confirm it.
