Q: Who are the canonically queer characters in FE3H?
A: Ignoring the two non-playable characters, there are six characters who can enter a same-sex relationship with the main character. They are: Edelgard, Dorothea, Mercedes, Lindhart, Yuri, and Jeritza.
Q: Why are you playing Crimson Flower?
A: Both Jeritza and Edelgard are route locked to Crimson Flower. Also, I don’t even want to think about Hunting By Daybreak, so we’re just going to not do it!
Q: What about your other units?
A: While they cannot enter a same-sex relationship with the player character, other characters do have queer endings depending on who they’re paired with. I will allow myself to fill out my army with units from this list, but only if they actually achieve that particular paired ending.
Q: So what units will you actually be using?
A: Byleth, Edelgard, Dorothea, Mercedes, Lindhart, Yuri, and Jeritza will all have to be a part of the main squad. Hubert is also required to be deployed during at least one chapter of the main story, so we will have to ensure that he achieves his paired ending with Ferdinand. As for the other Black Eagles: Bernadetta is only usable if we get her paired ending with Edelgard, Petra with Dorothea, and Caspar with Lindhart. We will have to make sure they achieve high support ranks with one another quickly, as I’d like to avoid having to spend renown at the very end of the game in order to tie their fates together.
That is twelve units, the max we’ll ever need to deploy. However, if we achieve max professor rank, we’ll have room for three adjutants as well. Given how useful she can be early on, I’d like to recruit Shamir as well. Since Catherine is unavailable in this route, however, that means we’ll also have to recruit Leonie in order for her to achieve a paired ending. Anna will fill our fifteenth slot since she is a free recruit.
While Shamir, Anna, and Yuri are all free recruits (and Jeritza won’t even appear until later on), we will have to work to recruit Mercedes and Leonie.
Those will be the entirety of our playable units.
Q: So why is Anna allowed if she has no supports and no paired ending?
A: Because aro/ace people are part of the queer community too.
Q: Doesn’t Flayn forcibly join your class?
A: Yes, but we are never required to deploy her. That means we’ll also be skipping her paralogue, as we would be forced to deploy her there.
