We often hear talk of Humankind and other Civ-like strategy games being perfectly balanced games with no exploits - however in this video discussion I argue that Humankind has one big balance issue and challenge. The worst part is, it's also Humankind's greatest strength! With 6 different eras offering 10 unique cultures each in Humankind game, there are literally over one million different combinations.
This leaves us in a trick balance position. Will it break the game, with carryover legacy traits that stack with future cultures, and can be supported by religion, buildings, infrastructure, wonders, civics and more!
Unlike Sid Meier's Civilization 6 and Civilisation 5, Humankind gives us much more flexibility over our culture and affinity. Will it lead to a world where everyone is super, so nobody is? Or will it be filled with insanely overpowered, stacking, ludicrously imperfectly balanced mechanics? Time will tell...
