I love my lizards, but Iguanas are considered an invasive species – they’re not native to Florida but come from Central and South America. Florida has given permission to its locals to kill Iguanas with no permit, nor limit due to the severe damage these lizards are causing.
They eat plants and dig tunnels that can erode and collapse sidewalks, seawalls and the foundations of homes.
They run off the native species from their homes and due to the housing market and the booming of people moving to Florida, there is no room for these overpopulated Iguanas, causing a threat to the native species.
