DDR5-4400 is our anchor story this week, and covers the arrival and tentative release date timeline of DDR5 memory. For the immediate future, testing was conducted on 8Gb modules at 4400MHz with CL42 timings. Micron plans to later move up to 6400MHz, theoretically with timings adjusted accordingly, but tightened from the present demo's configuration.
In contention for anchor story status, Intel and AMD are working toward their new chipsets, named Z390 & Z490 (respectively). Almost childish in fashion, the naming of these chipsets continues to add confusion for new PC builders and veterans alike. Either way, we have a roadmap for Intel and AMD product launches, including an Intel Coffee Lake 8-core CPU releasing later this year. Threadripper 2 will also release toward August.
