HYPER DRIVE - The Insane Gravity Race by DRUNKEN APES, 2017.

Where to start with this one... yes it has an F1 car, but it's more like having a migrane whilst on mind altering drugs to actually play it!

It's sort of a time-trial based (for the moment) racing game through futuristic/surreal landscapes.

It's been in Early Access since August 2017, so is lacking car sounds, and is pretty buggy. There are two modes in the game, Practice and Hyper. For most cars in the game, Practice has less movement in the camera and varied landscapes (snow track, fiery track, monochrome track, etc), but the F1 car has a bug that always runs it in Hyper mode, so all tracks have the same white/orange/red colour scheme, whilst the camera floats about crazily and intense speed-lines go everywhere.

The handling is very, very twitchy, and the landscapes, which don't quite stitch together well, means that the car is bouncing about all over the place, and if you leave the ground, good luck in finding the track again!

Obviously with no real-life tracks, I've had to just pick some random ones, so ignore the real-life tracks listed below!

1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 This is the simplest track in the game, however none of the "track" surfaces are quite flat, so you constantly have to correct your direction of travel. You'll note the large loop-the-loop, which seems to end with you no longer being on the track, weirdly!

2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:44 There is no rain in the game (one track has snow, but only if you run a car that isn't the F1 car currently!). As there's no TV camera in the game, I decided to show the F1 car on the turntable, before you start a track, so you can see how it's modelled. It's worth noting that many (all?) vehicles in the game were likely purchased off-the-shelf, as some have Rally Point 3 branding, and the team behind that Windows Store/mobile game sell their car models to anyone who wants to reuse them!

3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 1:00 Err, here's a tunnel!

4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:14 Okay it's not wet, but the track is a bit sweeping like Eau Rouge! Note at the end you literally leave the track; it's really hard to find it again!

5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:31 There are no pitstops in the game, but there are these boost gates. This is a weird-looking track!

6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:45 Crashes don't cause damage (though the developers claim they might add it one day). Here I fall into a giant page-turning book; one of the several surreal tracks in the game (another is full of Chess pieces, for no reason at all!).
