Well, here we are at the part of the game that represents where I recall getting game over the most...well, once I picked up the basics. Seriously, the stages become quite a bit noticeably more difficult when you reach Neo Megalopolis...and speaking of that, I have to say that for such a silly and non-descriptive name basically boiled down to "new big conglomerate city," I rather like the ring of it.

Bioplant in particular pulls out all the stops to try to kill you mercilessly with swarms of enemies that fire quickly and accurately while whizz by. It even gets to the point where it decides to yank the track out from under you...I don't think I could ever get through that without losing a ship.

This stage even features the first and only enemy type that is outright immune to the charge shot, becase they take two hits regardless of strength and rush to kamikaze attack you after the first hit is registered, "triggering" them into being vulnerable. I still think it's really neat to let loose a charge shot and see them all fly straight at you en masse.

I wonder what it is about these stages that makes the "offroad" portions damage a flying space ship and why the track is mirrored at the horizon. It makes for a very neat effect, anyway.
