In this episode, we share some information regarding a just-announced dock for the Nintendo Switch from Hyperkin called the Podium.

UPDATE 1/27
It's and attachment that goes on top of the OEM dock and plugs into the USB port, no power supply needed! so very cool, that should help keep costs down!

UPDATE 1/27 Part 2
Terence from Hyperkin added pricing information to the comments on the video! Very cool!!

Original Copy:
The Nintendo GameCube controller is still amazingly popular, 20+ years after it was originally released. While many associate Super Smash Bros with using the GameCube controller, there are many games that may benefit from this layout compared to more modern ones. While the GameCube did offer the wireless Wavebird controller, it did not utilize Bluetooth, which makes it impossible to use with modern systems and PCs. The developers at Hyperkin have a new dock coming out of the Hyperkin Labs called the Podium.

We don't have a ton of information on the Podium as of yet, but what we do have is definitely interesting. We can't quite determine if this is an all-new stand-alone dock or something that keys into the OEM Nintendo Dock. Based on what I can see, I think this works with the OEM dock. On the left and right sides there are 2 GameCube ports on each side. I don't see any reason why a Wavebird won't fit, but since the face is flush and not curved, like the faceplate of the GameCube, there will likely be a gap between the transceiver and the face of the Podium.

It does appear that the Switch sits up in the dock channel now with the Podium adapter installed. While some may want to try to use this with the Switch Lite, I don't believe there's too much of the lower screen blocked to be able to play well. Looking at the promo photo, I do see there's something plugged into the left side of the Podium. Is this a power connection? Is this unrelated to anything? I don't know at this time.

One each of the 4 GameCube ports, there appears to be LED player indicators. Now, I could be wrong here, but that's just what I am seeing. When assembled, if it is a separate piece from the dock, it appears to sit slightly higher than the bottom of the central part of the assembly.

We hope to have more information on the Podium in the coming days and weeks. We have reached out to Hyperkin to try to get these and other questions answered. Make sure you stay subscribed to learn more about the Hyperkin Podium as we know more ourselves!
