And here's another bit of questionable highlight, but I find it just a tad more relevant in the long run. Once again, we'll be looking at bosses, only the sturdiness of the opposition will be stepped up... maybe a little TOO far to the opposite extreme, because I haven't used Cia much at all and there's a very slippery slope on either side of being the "appropriate" level to tackle something whereupon one side or the other will start getting rather brutalized for their trouble.

Challenge Battle:
Defeat all Giant Bosses within the time limit!

Oh, look! We've got help here! Ghirahim will be more than willing to... no, wait... I remember Legend Mode, particularly when Ganondorf had Ghirahim and Zant backing him up, each claiming that they'd take a large enemy on for me... but they can't use items, so they'd just beg for forgiveness and assistance continuously if I didn't take out the bosses quickly enough FOR them. So, ultimately, he's going to be absolutely no help at all!

That's what you think! It gets even better, because this script calls for Ghirahim to be even more of a git than he usually is! (Is that even possible?) Not long into the scenario, he'll realize that he's actually NOT predisposed to like you very much, and thus he'll turn on you in the time it takes for all the system messages to allow him to come to such a realization.

Of course, compared to Gohma, Ghirahim's really not much of a threat... and even besides that, he's less of a threat than usual to top it all off. (Maybe he's "balanced" to match the strength of his "ally" and as such is even less capable than he ought to have been as an adversary?)

Anyway, taking him completely out of the equation, as amusing (or not) as his intervention might be considered... the real nature of boss fights further rears its ugly head. For starters, the scaling of enemy HP gets kinda ridiculous... so boss HP scales much the same way, only more so. This is pretty significant since any time you break their weak point gauge, you'll do a hefty sum of damage... only it won't be all that hefty if your attack doesn't stack up favorably enough to their HP reserves.

On the other hand, the weak point gauge itself isn't particularly picky. It's all about the actual heft of the attacks that hit a vulnerable foe, meaning you'll have to figure out which attacks cause it to deplete most efficiently versus the amount of time required to set them up... which can indeed result in some trial-and-error and mixed results depending on how all the motions and hitboxes align.

For instance, Cia's combo finisher that ends with ground-based explosive traps takes quite a while to set up and off, but they take absolutely huge chunks out of an exposed weak point gauge, albeit not really enough to add up in the time given by themselves. However, if you can get several of them to connect simultaneously with a particularly sprawling boss's form... like, say how Gohma is dare I say uniquely capable of setting off three at once!

Of course, breaking the gauge is only half the equation... albeit probably the more important half... it's all relatively meaningless if you can't get the gauge to show up,and bosses almost seem to delight in their own blend of coyness and stupidity wrapped up in a random number generator, and we've all been at the mercy of those now and again. As it happens, they become far less eager to use the very specific sorts of attacks that will allow you access to their weak spots as their health reduces, a rather big jump occurring at the halfway point.

I do feel at this point as if I'm repeating what I've said... or at least merely alluded indirectly to by now... ... ...only way more insistently and perhaps irritatingly belabored a manner than before. But getting used to fighting these guys is a valuable skill that can't be understated, particularly once the scale and power they represent starts getting more and more out of control.
