In the same spirit of freshening things up a bit (...and because I finally exhausted all my processed videos from Hyrule Warriors), here's something quite a bit different from miscellaneous Adventure battles, fascinating though they and their unlockables may be...

The first batch of paid DLC for Hyrule Warriors included some costumes (which P2 couldn't help but peruse before we got underway) and a handful of supplementary missions for Cia... although Cia herself and her two cohorts were released as a free content update at (or around) the same time in what I think was the first of many waves of free content updates that only very recently as of this writing finished hitting.

Naturally, since this was recorded AFTER I'd gone a bit nuts on Adventure Mode, you'll probably see little signs of things that are new and unexplained and ahead of the "current" Adventure progress, but very little of it should be outright unexpected. (And those that ARE are actually DLC, like Twili Midna here... but since that kind of thing is outright buy-and-unlock type content, I can't really spoiler-proof it... or consider it a spoiler. Nintendo and Tecmo-Koei have some really nice DLC content trailers on YouTube!)

This ALSO means the return of co-op play, because I finally have a carrot to prod P2 with again rather than just the brutal pike of further un-plotted, senseless, and solely detail-driven warfare! (This means the visual and processing quality will again take a hit to divide the labor between two players!)

At least the campaign seems to be balanced with the fact that you are given Cia, Wizzro, and Volga at Level 1 instead of some reasonable level at which you get the Adventure-unlocked characters. This means that Twili Midna at Level 1 is also more than welcome to attend!

Anyway, as previously stated, this is a sort of side-story... uh... mini-campaign... er... thing! Naturally, it's been made under the assumption you've played the main Legends mode already and that you're at least aware of the various machinations and twists that unfolded in that one. My question, posed somewhat coyly earlier when I was playing the main campaign was... did the people who wrote THIS one pay attention to the original game content?!

I believe there's some manner of disclaimer somewhere in the game about this thing's dubious canonicity, but it didn't HAVE to be that way! Stand by your product and pay attention to all the details! ...there were only fourteen missions in the original Legends mode anyway! C'mon!

So, in that spirit, I suggest we all have fun... and maybe have a little fun poking our own fun at the awkwardness of it all at times... that's really the only sane way to approach it under the circumstances, I'd say! (Wait, me?Sane? No, no, no, no!)

Cia's Tale
Chapter 1, The Dragon of the Caves

For instance! Right off the bat! ...I'm pretty sure the game already established some vague "I sell my soul for power!" backstory for Volga... and nobody ever mentioned that this place had anything to do with that wacky dragon man we saw almost vaporize Link (and Impa, for bothering to stick her neck out for the sap!) having any famous connection to the caves we tried to use to escape enemy pursuit! (If they had, that would've been immediately spotted a really bad idea! ...well, maybe not by our heroes...)

And wait, Ganondorf's spirit COUNSELED Cia? I thought he was just kinda giving her a little nudge into insanity... but actually telling her how to do this stuff would make him way too active a participant even BEFORE he got on the scene and it entirely unsurprising what would happen once Cia freed all those power fragments... which would pretty much reduce her to the level of a rube, and I refuse to let anyone, even an OC (do not steal?!), sink to Zant's level as pitiable dupes go! (...this plot has been retroactively Even MORE Hijacked by Ganon than it already was! ...we're off to a great start!)

But wait, there's more! They also decided to override Wizzro's (admittedly super-generic) origin story as a twisted creature created by Cia's dark magic ...now he's actually the inhabitant of an artifact of doom that Cia's just going to pick up while she's here. (Now she's a jewel thief?)

The occasion of this rewrite also introduces us to bigger, badder, but fundamentally identical Chieftains for both Lizalfos and Dinolfos... just to up the ante a bit. Suddenly we have established Volga as the leader of a whole proud warrior hierarchy!

So let's see... we took a crazy ring monster from Gorons... they sent giant exploding rats after us... the lizard people are mad about being beaten up a bunch, so they call in giant reinforcements (would it really be complete without a Dodongo or two?) ...but wait, it gets better! Seems Wizzro's got a bit of a treacherous streak to show off now that things have gotten sufficiently overcomplicated. At least I have ONE ally who won't desert me! ...unless I decide to play a ton of Adventure mode...
